    Hi Jenny,

If you are having trouble conceiving after 6 months of continuous trying, it is recommended to get medical attention from the specialist ?

For couples who intend to family plan (wait 1-2 or more years after getting married), would you recommend for them to get a fertility check first before trying to conceive?

If chances of conception is reduced as the couple age, knowing in advance that they might have problems conceiving in future would allow them to make an informed decision on family planning? Just a thought.

Yes, you have a very good point here. I would recommend that for women who are over the age of 35 to come forward to get a fertility check so that they are aware where they are in terms of fertility.

What about bad sperm quality? I mean if it’s too low to conceive, is it necessarily to make IVF or can increase by medicine?

Yes, there are medications and nutrition which can improve sperm quality to a certain extend. You may want to bring the report in for us to have a look and we can advise you further.

My friend did an IVF but it was unsuccessful. Her doctor mentioned that the age of her eggs is 40 while she is only 30 years old. What is your advice to her?

I am sorry to hear about your friend’s IVF cycle. There are many reasons for such findings. Some are due. Some of the causes include genetics, nutrition, lifestyles and etc. There are things which can be done to improve her conditions. She can give us a call and we are happy to guide her through.

Me and my husband try to conceive for a few months, but we weren’t successful so far. Should my husband stop smoking to increase our chance?

Absolutely. Smoking has been shown to reduce sperm quality. Stopping smoking will help to improve sperm quality and your husband should stop right now.

Hi, I just wondered does the sex position actually matters for getting pregnant?

Hi carmen well, this a question that has been asked time and again. Research did not find any relation between sex position and fertility. Resting on bed after sex are also not shown to affect fertility. However, usage of certain lubricants can reduce your fertility due to their chemical contents.

Hi Doctor, one of my friends told me that a diet and watching my nutrition can help to increase my chances to conceive. Can you confirm that?

Yes, your friend is having a good point here. Obesity or being underweight has been shown to have adverse effect on fertility. Foods high in Mercury (seafood such as shark, swordfish and king mackerel) can reduce fertility. Heavy alcohol and caffeine intake are also shown to affect fertility. So you should aim to get and to maintain an ideal Body Mass Index (BMI).
