Hi, you should avoid junk foods especially fast foods. In addition, oily foods and foods which contained too much of sugar should also be avoided.

There are a lot of factors when it comes to infertility. It’s recommended that you consult the doctors to understand more about it. However, other than smoking and alcohol, you should also concern about your diet. Eat a healthy balanced diet and increase the intake of fruits and vegetables. Besides that, stress might be the reason that increases your infertility. Spend some times to do the things you love to reduce your stress.

Yes. You can start with folic acid supplements three months prior to getting pregnant. It can help to prevent neural tube defects in your baby.

In general you must make sure that you are healthy enough before a pregnancy. If you have any underlying illnesses such as Diabetes Mellitus or high blood pressure, make sure it is well controlled. Uncontrolled illnesses not only makes it difficult to get pregnant, but you run a higher risk of complication during pregnancy. You should also take pre-conception vitamins such as folic acid. You should stop smoking and stop consumption of any recreational drugs.

Hi Syazana, of course we can 🙂 The process for you is the same. The difference is in the way we fertilise the eggs. ICSI involved injection of a single sperm into one egg and it benefits couples with male factor infertility.

Hey Denise, thank your for your question. Sometime, just giving a little more time is all what you may need. Generally, after 1 year of trying to conceive, 80% of couple will succeed. If given another year , 90% of couples will succeed. However, pregnancy rate reduces in older women and men.

Hi Rachael, your abstinence should not be too long! You should aim to have sex 2-3 times a week during your fertile period and sex every 1 or 2 days intervals during fertile window.

Yes, your friend is having a good point here. Obesity or being underweight has been shown to have adverse effect on fertility. Foods high in Mercury (seafood such as shark, swordfish and king mackerel) can reduce fertility. Heavy alcohol and caffeine intake are also shown to affect fertility. So you should aim to get and to maintain an ideal Body Mass Index (BMI).

Hi carmen well, this a question that has been asked time and again. Research did not find any relation between sex position and fertility. Resting on bed after sex are also not shown to affect fertility. However, usage of certain lubricants can reduce your fertility due to their chemical contents.

Absolutely. Smoking has been shown to reduce sperm quality. Stopping smoking will help to improve sperm quality and your husband should stop right now.

I am sorry to hear about your friend’s IVF cycle. There are many reasons for such findings. Some are due. Some of the causes include genetics, nutrition, lifestyles and etc. There are things which can be done to improve her conditions. She can give us a call and we are happy to guide her through.

Yes, there are medications and nutrition which can improve sperm quality to a certain extend. You may want to bring the report in for us to have a look and we can advise you further.

Yes, you have a very good point here. I would recommend that for women who are over the age of 35 to come forward to get a fertility check so that they are aware where they are in terms of fertility.

    Hi Jenny,

If you are having trouble conceiving after 6 months of continuous trying, it is recommended to get medical attention from the specialist ?
