You think, you drink way too much coffee? Then read this article and keep calm!
Scientists at the Harvard University found out that the risk for many diseases can be reduced by consuming three to five cups of coffee a day.
Many people can´t live without, others demonise it! What is it? Coffee!!
A new report by the Harvard University shows the positive effect coffee has on our bodies. It can reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases like early heart attacks and neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinson and diabetes type II. The risk of diabetes type II drops on an average of around 7% with every cup of coffee a day. The kind of biological and chemical mechanisms that are responsible for these effects is still an issue. The fact is that caffeine stimulates the insulin producing cells of the pancreas. Insulin together with antioxidants like chlorogenic acid inhibit cell destroying processes which can be seen as one reason for the emergence of diabetes type II.
Head of research Dr. Ming Ding from the T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Harvard explained that, besides caffeine, coffee contains hundreds of bioactive compounds, antioxidants and minerals which can reduce insulin resistance and systemic inflammations. But there is still more research needed to understand the biological mechanisms behind it.

Furthermore, studies show that the arteries of people who drink three to five cups of coffee a day are less calcified than the arteries of people who don’t.
Good news for lovers of decaffeinated coffee!
The positive effects on our health are not related to the caffeine but to the other components in it.
Dr. Frank Hu, a researcher and professor at Harvard Medical School said: “We found that the health benefits of coffee are more pronounced, or evident, in people who don’t smoke. In other words, smoking actually masks the potential health benefits of drinking coffee, and it’s really important to separate the effects of coffee from smoking.”
Also the risk of suicide can be reduced by the consumption of coffee. The rate of committing suicide in men and women is significantly lower for those who drink between two and four cups of coffee a day. The distribution of mood enhancer like serotonin caused by caffeine can work as an antidepressant. Otherwise coffee doesn’t seem to have any effect on cancer since the death rate of cancer diseases didn’t show any changes through the studies.
The outcomes presented here are taken from three long-term studies in which around 208.000 participants got interviewed for. They had to document their consumption of coffee over a period of 30 years.
